Track Competes at Cookeville HS

Monday, April 4, 2016 5:00 PM Stone Memorial High School AWAY 6 Cumberland County High School HOME 7 Game Recap The Lady Panthers lost in heartbreaking fashion in the bottom of the 8th inning to a walkoff homerun. The tight battle between the two teams has been the highlight of the season thus far.

Track Continues to Show Improvement

SMHS Track teams continue to improve as the season as progressed was the theme Coach Bates kept hitting on, “We are getting better- times are dropping and distances are getting longer. The kids want to get better and it makes our job easier as coaches.” Up next both teams will compete at Cookeville against Cookeville,

Athletes of the Week for March 28 – April 1

Lacey Melton scored 30 individual points to help lead the girls track team at the first King of the Mountain Meet. Lacey finished 1st or 2nd in all 4 of her events. Stephen Tung won both his singles (8-3) and doubles (8-4) matches to help lead the tennis team against Harriman.

Athletes of the Week for March 21-25

Susan Nelson scored 15 points in the first track meet of the season for the girls to help lead the 4×400 and the 4×800 relay teams to 2nd place finishes out of 26 teams. Russ Boyd has helped to lead the boys soccer team to multiple victories thus far this season.

Athletes of the Week for March 14-18

Bailey Brown notched the only victory for the girls tennis team against Rhea Co with an 8-3 singles win. Jacob Sweeten recorded 16 individual points for the boys track team in their first meet, also Jacob has worked extremely hard in the offseason to improve upon last years performance.

Bailey Rutledge Signs Scholarship

Congratulations to SMHS alumni Bailey Rutledge on signing to run track with Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens Tennessee.  Bailey is currently a student at Roane State in Crossville and will transfer to Tennessee Wesleyan this Fall.
